COMMISSIONED PROJECT: INTERIOR DESIGN & STYLING FOR FRIEND'S ROOM

I have always been interested in doing interior design and the opportunity presented itself when a friend approached me to help him design his room from scratch as he was sharing it with a family member previously.

This provided me a chance to sharpen my SketchUp and V-Ray skills in terms of rendering and also understanding the client's needs first hand.

Design Issues:

1. study table & shelf too small and fixed to the wall; preventing it to be shifted.

2. main light source located at front of the room; making it too dim, not reaching the back of the room.

3. space is too cluttered and not much room for client to move around and rest at.

Design Solutions:

1. utilizing items bought from IKEA to create a unique table with sufficient storage on both sides.

2. installing track lights so that the room would be evenly lit in the night; different lighting for different moods.

3, new paint scheme to create a new sense of coziness and a different environment within the home.

4. adjusted the layout of the bedroom so that the spaces are better utilized & optimized.
